Lake Artists Society Summer Exhibition 2019

View from Helm Crag from Grasmere, July 2019. A smallish Wainwright.

I’m pleased to have had both my entries to The Lake Artists Society’s Summer Exhibition 2019.  You can view the exhibition from July 27th to September 4th at the lovely village of Grasmere in the heart of the Lake District, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Read more about the Society and the exhibition here: https://lakeartists.org.uk/

Not least due to the standard of work there, it’s one of the highlights of the local arts scene and it’s an honour to exhibit there.

The exhibition attracts thousands of visitors every year, but if you’re thinking that it’s a long way to go for an exhibition, make a day (or a holiday) of it!  There are lots of beautiful walks around Grasmere (home of Wordsworth, of course) as well as great cafes, pubs, hotels and shops – some of my favourites include the independent bookseller http://www.samreadbooks.co.uk/

and the famous  Sarah Nelson’s Grasmere gingerbread https://www.Grasmere gingerbread.co.uk/

If you’re inspired by the exhibition and the landscape, pop into the Heaton Cooper Studio https://www.heatoncooper.co.uk/,  where you’ll find art materials to create your own masterpiece as well as original paintings, sculpture, prints and more (check out Mathilde’s Cafe at the Heaton Cooper Studio).  More things to do and see here: https://www.visitcumbria.com/amb/grasmere/
