This year I’m joining the long established Silverdale and Arnside Arts Trail, 22nd -24th June, which covers the local AONB. Venues are open 10.30am- 5.30 pm Saturday and Sunday. I’m exhibiting in ceramic sculptor Vicky Yates’ beautiful studio at Slackhead near Beetham- we’re at Venue No.1 on the map which you can see on the SAACT website: http://www.silverdalearttrail.co.uk/visitor-info/getting-here-silverdale/ There’s lots of information about the trail on the website, and if you haven’t yet got a catalogue, they are available from the venues listed on the website under “VISITOR INFO” Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail (SAACT) . I’m looking forward to meeting visitors from near and far, and just wish I could visit the other venues on the trail! You can keep up with events by following SAACT on Facebook and Instagram @saac_trail. This year, on their Facebook page, there are some great little interviews with some of the artists participating in the trail, offering insights into their inspirations and processes. https://www.facebook.com/pg/SilverdaleArnsideArtCraftTrail/videos/?ref=page_internal
The weather has been glorious today and looks set to stay fine for the weekend, hopefully with lots of sunshine. We are offering tea and coffee at the venue, but recommend the recently refurbished pub, The Wheatsheaf at Beetham https://wheatsheafbeetham.com or why not visit Beetham Nurseries https://www.beethamnurseries.co.uk who also have a great cafe. The historic Heron Corn Mill http://www.heronmill.org is also at Beetham and well worth a visit, as is the Grade 1 listed church, St. Michaels and All Angels http://www.beethamstmichaelandallangels.co.uk.
A few yards from the venue is the public footpath through the woods to the famous Fairy Steps, which used to be a coffin route between Arnside and the church in Beetham – if you can get down without touching the sides, the fairies are sure to grant you a wish!
Here are some of my photo’s taken around Beetham and Slackhead:

Enjoy your weekend whatever you’re doing – hopefully you’ll be looking at art!
